Why Should I Have A Birmingham Driving School Franchise
Why Should I Have A Birmingham Driving School Franchise
Name and Reputation of Birmingham Driving School
- Birmingham Driving School is very well established, having started trading in 1988
- We hope that the longevity of Birmingham Driving School inspires confidence in potential customers, and we hope that we have a good image and reputation
- We have also operated a number of other driving schools in the West Midlands for some time
Driving Lessons
- Every Driving Instructor needs a supply of new clients
- Through our network of websites and other advertising and marketing we have a good supply of new clients
Receptionist Facilities
- Advertising and marketing are pointless unless you can convert it into paying customers
- A telephone call that is not answered, or answered in an unprofessional manner, is unlikely to become a booking for a driving lesson
- Our telephones are professionally answered Monday to Friday 8.00am to 8.00pm and Saturday 8.00am to 5.00pm
- The telephonists have:
- Details of how Birmingham Driving School operates
- Details of the services we offer
- Details of what our fees are
- Details of who our instructors are
- Details of the areas that each instructor works in
- Access to your online diary so they can book a new client directly into your diary
- The ability to deal with queries from your existing clients
Your Diary
- You are in charge of your diary
- You decide on your normal working hours
- You decide on whether you are taking a specific day off, or afternoon off, etc.
- You decide on when you are taking a holiday
- You decide on how much or little holiday you are taking
- Time off usually needs planning a little in advance so that you can keep your clients happy, but you are in charge of your diary, when you work, and when you don't
The Area That You Work In
- As well as being in charge of your working hours, You are also in charge of what areas you work in
Online Diary
- You will have access to your own online diary, that you can keep up to date by PC, tablet or smart phone
- Our telephone receptionists have access to your diary, so they can book new clients in for you, or re-book your existing clients when necessary
- New bookings will be notified to you by text, and will also appear in your online diary
- When a new client books a lesson they will receive a text confirming details of the lesson
- All clients will receive an automatically generated text the evening before each lesson reminding them of the lesson appointment
- All clients will receive an automatically generated text acting as a receipt for the lesson that they have had, and including details of their next lesson
- You have full control of your diary, when you are available and when you are not available
Full Time or Part Time?
- You decide
- Unlike many driving schools, our franchise system doesn’t force you to work a minimum number of hours just to pay the franchise fee
- If you only want to work a few hours each week, that’s your choice, you decide what times you are available to work
- If you want to work full time, again it is your choice, you are in control of your working hours
Holidays and Days Off
- With a Birmingham Driving School Fair, Flexible Franchise, you only pay a franchise fee when you are working
- So if you book a day off, or a holiday, whilst you are obviously not earning anything whilst you’re not working, unlike with most driving schools you are not paying a franchise fee when you are not working
- Typically a driving school franchise will offer 4 weeks franchise free per year, usually suggesting that you take 2 of those weeks at Christmas
- Birmingham Driving School does not place any restriction on the amount of time off you take
- You only pay a franchise fee when you are working with a Birmingham Driving School Fair, Flexible Franchise
Fair, Flexible Franchise
- There is no set franchise fee with Birmingham Driving School
- You are not committed to paying a set fee each week, regardless of whether you are working or not
- The franchise is based on how much or little you work
Guaranteed Franchise Fee
- Your guarantee is that your franchise fees will be fixed at the rates agreed when you join Birmingham Driving School
- Your franchise fees will not increase as the lesson price increases
- This guarantee will last at the minimum, until the lesson fee has risen by over £10, compared with the fee when your franchise agreement commenced
- This guarantee does not apply if:
- Lesson fees or franchise fees are affected by any change in legislation
- There are any changes in VAT or other taxation rules
- There is any change in VAT registration status of Birmingham Driving School
- As lesson fees increase over time, franchise fees for newly recruited driving instructors will increase proportionally
- They will still qualify for the Guaranteed Franchise Fee, based on the lesson fee at the time they join Birmingham Driving School
Record Keeping
- The bad news is that because you’re running a business, you have to keep records
- The good news is that the online diary system keeps lots of records relating to your clients, how many lessons they have had, and how much they have paid, making record keeping easier

Training and Continuous Professional Development: CPD
The Need For Continuous Professional Development And Training
- In most professions, training is frequent, whether it is on the job, or a day in the classroom, and this applies to all levels, whether it is an employee at the bottom of the ladder, or a senior executive
- Nothing stands still, there have been changes and developments in:
- Car engineering
- Car technology
- Driving procedures
- Driving Tests
- Law
- Standards Checks
- Teaching Methods
- There are also likely to be further changes and developments in all of these areas
- Driving Instructors that keep up to date, and aim to develop new skills and improve on their existing skills are more likely to be successful
- There are some forms of CPD that are completely free, there are also some courses or qualifications that cost thousands
- What is appropriate or relevant training or CPD will be different for every ADI
- Each ADI will also have different CPD needs at different times in their career as an ADI
- At times there will be CPD that is essential to do
- There will sometimes be CPD that it would be nice to do, but there has to be a balance struck between time and cost, and the desirability of doing any particular course or qualification
